A mum from Caerphilly whose son has Type 1 diabetes is swimming the equivalent of the English Channel to raise vital funds for Diabetes UK Cymru. Ruth Greenaway-Robbins, 39, is taking on the swimming challenge of the year, Swim 22, between 22 February and 22 May. Her son Simeon, 16, was diagnosed in April 2017. Detectives investigating a scam where fraudsters purport to be police officers have made an arrest. An 18 year old London man has been arrested in Cardiff yesterday evening on suspicion of Theft and Fraud. The arrest was in connection with a series of scams committed in the Penarth and Cardiff area today in which three elderly victims were conned in to handing over approximately £20,000. He is currently in police custody at Bridgend. While Coleg Cambria Yale in Wrexham is undergoing a £21million revamp its popular Hafod restaurant will relocate to Bangor on Dee in Wrexham. Tobacco control campaign group Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) Wales has praised a manufacturing firm after workers quit smoking thanks to a ground breaking workplace scheme. It is urging other companies to follow the example of the manufacturing firm Sandvik Osprey which holds smoking cessation sessions run by NHS Wales at its Neath Port Talbot plant. During the visit to Anglesey today, the Minister said the completed scheme would bring great benefits to the local area and Anglesey as whole.
