Techniquest will be jetting visitors around the world this summer as it brings augmented reality to its centre in Cardiff Bay. Drivers in South Wales are enjoying some respite from increasing car insurance costs, as premiums drop -£79 (-10%) year-on-year. Car insurance now costs drivers in the region £693, on average, and is -£19 (-3%) cheaper than it was three months ago. Today, an exhibition of artwork by individuals living with early onset dementia will open at Ysbyty Alltwen, Tremadog. At a five day workshop held at Yr Ysgwrn in May, a group of younger people living with the condition were busy creating personal dioramas with the artist Luned Rhys Parri. Using a photograph that was important to them as a background, the artworks were created using wire, paper, glue and paint. A hospital which looks after nature as well as caring for people has become the first in Wales to receive the prestigious Green Flag Award. Glanrhyd in Bridgend is only the second hospital in the UK to receive the award, which recognises the finest parks and green spaces. The historic site has bird and bat boxes, insect-friendly “bug hotels” and interpretive signs explaining the flora and fauna that can be found there. Swansea University Medical School and St John’s Research Institute have  signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly establish an education hub specialising in health informatics at the Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore. Swansea University has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with St John’s Research Institute’s Division of Medical Informatics, a part of St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences. The first balloon launch test has taken place at SAC in the Snowdonia Enterprise Zone, as B2Space uses the facilities and infrastructure at Llanbedr to collect key data that will contribute to analysing the viability of B2Space operations in the area’s bid to create a spaceport.
