Dementia patients who become “distressed and confused” with unfamiliar hospital surroundings are getting vital support thanks to Cardiff Bus. The transport operator has donated one of its stop signs and timetable displays to Llandough Hospital, in a bid to prevent elderly patients living with dementia from becoming unsettled and anxious during their stay. Aside from staff pay, firms are more likely to increase their investment in training, and introduce more flexible working practices, in order to retain staff, according to a survey by the South Wales Chamber of Commerce and recruitment company Indeed. Hundreds of Sony UK Technology Centre staff have swapped the factory for the orchestra for a “one of a kind” musical event at Swansea University. Over 600 staff from the Pencoed-based manufacturing facility came together at the university’s bay campus to make a musical masterpiece as part of their annual team building day. Speedway is returning to the Welsh Capital this Saturday for the Adrian Flux British FIM Speedway Grand Prix. The racing competition involves riders going around a track on 500cc motorbikes, with no breaks reaching speeds up to 70 MPH. The bikes run on Methanol which is an environmentally friendly fuel. Over 45 000 people are expected to watch the spectacle. The gates will open at 3.30pm and the first race starts at 5.15pm.
