The Welsh Government is working with a sight loss charity to improve the voting experience for disabled people by launching a series of accessible voting trials in Wales. The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) recently published a report that found only a quarter of blind people felt the current system allows them to vote independently and in secret. A series of exciting new menus are set to be served up on Transport for Wales’ long distance fleet thanks to a new preparation kitchen and a new head chef. The RNLI will continue to deliver a seasonal lifeguard service at beaches in Porthcawl after Bridgend County Borough Council’s Cabinet approved an increase in funding to protect current service levels. The most recent partnership agreement ended in 2024, and Cabinet were asked to consider a number of options which included reductions to service level if no increase in funding was agreed. The new three-year agreement will cover beaches at Rest Bay, Coney/Sandy Bay and Trecco Bay, with a service in Pink Bay being delivered by the team based at Rest Bay. Prestatyn High pupils have helped extend a helping hand for nature on the school grounds. Pupils recently joined with Denbighshire County Council’s Biodiversity Team and Countryside Rangers to help extend existing hedgerow at the site to provide stronger support for local nature. Work has continued across county schools in the last 12 months to help increase biodiversity and tree canopies across school grounds for supporting nature’s recovery and to provide an educational wellbeing outdoor area for youngsters. Croeso returns to Swansea city centre this month to celebrate all things Welsh. More new and improved facilities are on the way to Swansea in a further boost for local skateboarders, BMXers and fans of other wheeled sports Swansea Council is now looking for a company to refurbish the existing Clyne Valley pump track and build a new pump track for novice and junior BMXers at Melin Mynach in Gorseinon. It’s part of a council commitment to invest £2.6m in neighbourhood skate park sites by working in close partnership with local communities and a specialist design company called Curve Studio.
