Major roadworks to carry out essential maintenance work on the A487 near Newport, Pembrokeshire for eight weeks are set to begin from 6 January 2025. The works, which are being carried out to ensure the long-term resilience of the road and mitigate against the impacts of climate change, will involve the replacement of a drainage structure which crosses beneath the A487. Officers are once again working with licensed premises to tackle drug use in pubs and bars in the lead up to Christmas. Licensing checks were recently conducted at 10 pubs across Anglesey in which police, accompanied by a drugs dog, checked for signs of drug use in the locations. The latest County Lines Intensification Week resulted in arrests and seizures of class A drugs, weapons and cash. South Wales Police teamed up with British Transport Police and worked with other UK police forces such as the Metropolitan Police to target County Lines gangs, arresting 31 people between Monday, November 25 to Monday, December 2.
