More than 1,400 potholes have been fixed and prevented in just three days along a busy stretch of road in North Wales. The resurfacing work has extended the life of the A494 Mold Bypass by up to a decade, improving safety and reducing the risk of damage for all road users. More people will receive radiotherapy treatment as Ysbyty Glan Clwyd receives new cancer treatment machines. The Welsh Government is investing £9.49m in two new linear accelerators at the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre to replace ageing equipment. The new machines will deliver radiotherapy treatment more precisely and efficiently. The latest Linacs can target and destroy cancer cells more accurately, reducing the risk of harm to normal tissue around the tumour site. Local fundraiser Gareth Evans, who recently raised more than £10,000 for Parkinson’s UK Cymru by braving a public head shave, has made another meaningful gesture by donating a unique piece of boxing memorabilia to City Hospice. At the recent Brave the Shave auction, Gareth successfully bid for a pair of signed boxing shorts once worn by Sugar Ray Leonard, the legendary American world champion. Youngsters in Wrexham have shared an incredible 3,600 ideas as part of a £20 million plan to revitalise and shape the future of the city. Scientists are starting to question whether being able to crack a good joke runs in the family, according to new research. In the first ever study to look at the influence of genes and the environment on comedic abilities, scientists compared over a thousand twins by asking them to rate their own humour and create funny captions for cartoons. The new findings, published in the journal ‘Twin Research and Human Genetics’, revealed that the scores people gave their own humour were influenced by both inherited and environmental factors. A multi-million-pound UK government-funded programme has significantly benefitted Flintshire residents, with communities upskilled, local facilities enhanced, and business productivity increased. Having received more than £12.4m from the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), Flintshire County Council has supported 26 projects to improve employment opportunities, foster business growth, and upgrade key amenities.
