Steven Craig Vonk, aged 51 from Swansea, attacked Timothy Matthews outside the Mill public house in Brynmill on July 25 this year. Vonk has been sentenced to three years in prison after appearing at Swansea Crown Court having pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Matthews in a one-punch incident. A 34-year-old woman who attacked a man with a broken glass bottle has been jailed. Cassie Evans, of Watery Road, Wrexham struck the victim to the neck with the piece of glass following an unprovoked attack. The incident on Lord Street, Wrexham happened shortly after 7pm, on 18 August. The victim was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. The Vale of Glamorgan Council is introducing a new textiles recycling collection service to help residents give unwanted clothes and household fabrics a second life. From Monday 17 November 2025, reusable textiles such as clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, towels, bed linen, and curtains will be collected from households and sent to a specialist off-taker that redistributes quality items both in the UK and abroad.
