A major campaign has been launched to get rural North Wales connected after it was revealed that one in six homes has no access to superfast broadband. The aim of the Rural Digital Connectivity project is to help householders, businesses and organisations across the region overcome the problems of being located in so-called not spots. Cardiff Council has announced that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Victoria Park Splashpad will be closed for the remainder of the current season. This closure is the result of failures with the sump pumps that supply water to the feature, as well as the pump responsible for chlorine distribution. Despite thorough efforts and collaboration with contractors, it has been determined that the necessary replacement parts, which must be sourced from Europe, will not be available until the autumn. A piece of the jigsaw puzzle that could unlock 1,000 years of history at a Flintshire-based heritage site has been unearthed. An excavation, funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), has led to the discovery of a horse bridle mount dating back to the late Iron Age at the Greenfield Valley Heritage Park. The artifact, which is up to 2,000 years old, was found within the remains of a newly discovered settlement that likely belonged to the Iron Age Deceangli tribe but appears to have continued into the early Roman period.
