Sports mad youngsters aged 5-7 and those looking to try out new sports and activities are invited to free multi-sport sessions in Haverfordwest. The sessions run from 4.15pm to 5pm every Thursday during term time and are based on the Tennis Courts at Haverfordwest High VC School. All sessions are free and there are a wide range of activities to try. The community gathered in joy and admiration to celebrate the 100th birthday of beloved local resident, Elsie. The festive occasion was held at the Woodfieldside Old Age Pensioners Hall, where Elsie has been a regular attendee with the Woodfieldside Old Age Pensioners group for the past seven years. Elsie, reflecting on the milestone, said, “I feel 120! I’m overwhelmed and deeply touched to see everyone here celebrating with me. Islwyn High School in Oakdale is set to benefit from a new multi-use games area (MUGA) and the development of a new a specialist pupil support area. Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet unanimously approved proposals to provide financial support of £145,000 for the project from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) fund. Caerphilly Homes, the Council’s housing division, will be project managing development of the new facilities.   The MUGA will replace the one located at the former Oakdale Comprehensive School site, as the brownfield site is being transformed by Caerphilly Homes into an ambitious mixed-tenure housing development. New planning guidance has been introduced in Powys with the aim of making it easier to set up market gardens or smallholdings in the county. The advice covers the need to have a home nearby when running a small-scale horticultural business in the Powys Local Planning Authority area (all parts of the county outside of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park). The Welsh Government is making progress in ensuring that those employed in the retail sector are fairly and properly paid and treated. Anthony Collier and Phil Reynolds of specialist business advisory firm FRP, were appointed as Joint Administrators of Mona Island Dairy Limited on 7 June 2024. Mona Dairy is a cheese plant based in Anglesey and uses a supply chain of more than 30 local farms, and employed around 50 members of experienced staff.
