Bridgend Post Office has reopened in temporary premises at The Rhiw Shopping Centre following the closure of its previous town centre branch.

The new branch opened earlier this week at 20 to 22 Caroline Street, Bridgend, CF31 1DQ, after Dunraven Place Post Office at 4 to 5 Wyndham Street closed due to extensive demolition and redevelopment works in the area.

The renamed Bridgend Post Office will continue to be operated by RF Retail, which has run the branch since November 2025, while a permanent location is sought.

Richard Fleetwood, who heads up RF Retail, had been working with the Post Office and the landlord over recent months to prepare for the move. The landlord allowed the branch to remain at its previous site for as long as possible before the redevelopment work began.

To maintain Post Office services in the town centre, the Post Office worked with Bridgend County Borough Council, which identified the temporary premises.

Postmaster Richard Fleetwood said: “I’m very grateful to Bridgend County Borough Council for its support, which enabled the Post Office to quickly relocate to the new interim location, to continue to provide vital services to this community.”

The temporary branch is located close to the main Caroline Street entrance to The Rhiw Shopping Centre, next to Boots. Alternative access is also available from Nolton Street and The Rhiw.

    Opening hours remain unchanged:

    • Monday to Friday: 9am to 5.30pm
    • Saturday: 9am to 12.30pm

Customers will continue to have access to the full range of travel money services, with more than 22 currencies available in store, alongside travel insurance and digital passport services.

RF Retail is also reminding residents that, following the closure of several bank branches, including Halifax, Barclays and Santander, personal and business customers from more than 30 banks can continue to make cash deposits and withdrawals free of charge at the Post Office using their debit card and PIN.

The business is also exploring the introduction of additional services, including Evri and DPD.

Karl Haddon, Post Office Retail Change Lead, said: “We know how important a Post Office is to this area of Bridgend, which is why we opened a temporary branch whilst we continue to look for a permanent solution. We have been working very closely with RF Retail, the landlord and Bridgend County Borough Council to retain essential Post Office services. We want to thank everyone for their support and co-operation.”
