Swansea Bay Business Club continued their 2018 networking season on Friday (April 20) with a lunch event held at the Village Hotel in Swansea.

Welsh television presenter Iolo Williams was a guest speaker at the lunch and spoke to guests about his career in the media and television industry, creating and presenting some of Wales’ most popular nature programmes on BBC and S4C over the last three decades.

Swansea Bay Business Club President, Paul Gardner commented:

“It was fantastic to continue our 2018 season at the Village Hotel with Iolo and great to see so many guests in attendance. Hearing from someone so engrained in the media and television landscape in Wales gave everyone in attendance a rare insight in to the industry and made for a fascinating talk.”

Swansea Bay Business Club’s next networking lunch will be their flagship event on Friday May 11, held this year at the Liberty Stadium, where ex-serviceman turned endurance athlete Rory Mackenzie will join those in attendance as guest speaker.

Rory, who lost a leg to a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2007, has gone on to complete a number of unimaginable feats including a 3000-mile row across the Atlantic as well as becoming the first person to circumnavigate Ireland on a watercraft.

Rory, who also spoke live in front of 80,000 people at the London Paralympics closing ceremony, uses his life story and experiences of overcoming true adversity and relates them to the world of business, touching on how individuals and teams can implement skills like teamwork and resilience in the workplace.

    Paul continued:

“Our flagship lunch is a real highlight in our calendar of events and having a speaker of Rory’s calibre join us will be a memorable experience for all of our guests. With his truly inspirational story to tell, his methods of explaining how he has overcome his challenges and his ability to relate this to people’s every day working lives, makes this one of our most eagerly anticipated events in recent memory.

“Every year our flagship lunch is a sell out event so we would strongly advise people to get their tickets as soon as they can from our website to avoid missing out. For those who do miss out a small number will be able to place their names on a reserve list by e-mailing [email protected]”

Tickets for Swansea Bay Business Club’s flagship lunch with Rory Mackenzie are priced at £40 for members and £45.50 for non-members, this includes a three-course lunch. Guests are asked to arrive at 12:15 for a 1pm lunch.

Bookings will close at midnight on Friday May 4, one week before the event.
