Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet has unanimously approved a new education strategy – ‘Pursuing excellence together’.

The strategy was developed following a rigorous self-assessment process and consultation with key stakeholders, including staff and learners across educational settings.

Included within the strategy are twelve key objectives for the next three years.  These include providing robust approaches to safeguarding, enhancing leadership, accelerating the progress of vulnerable learners, increasing attendance, and reducing exclusions, improving post-16 provision, and closing the attainment gap between learners from different backgrounds.

Cllr Carol Andrews, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Communities, said “We recognise the impact of the pandemic upon education and learners; this strategy aims to re-set educational priorities for Caerphilly post-Covid, whilst also understanding the challenges presented to learners as a result of the cost of living crisis.

“’Pursuing excellence together’ aims to further develop a culture of trust, strong working relationships and a passion for making a difference for all learners in the county borough.

“Partnership is key to our vision and the strategy sets out a clear commitment to seek out, promote and share excellence throughout our education system to deliver sustained improvement.”

The full strategy can be found here.
