Guto King Design is a graphic design business based at Pontygwindy Industrial Estate, Caerphilly. The owner, Guto Llewellyn King, has been in the graphic design sector for over 20 years, but in August 2022, decided to start his own business due to the company he was working for going into administration. He currently specialises in sign printing due to the increased demand.

Previously, Guto worked in London, producing Chelsea FC football programmes, and has also worked for Fulham FC, printing monthly magazines. Relocating back to Caerphilly, he moved into his new premises in November 2022 and started producing various types of signage, from rugby pitch advertising surrounds and fridge advertising fronts to publicity banners.

The business has a busy order book and have recently employed a sign fitter on a full-time basis to make the signs and fit them throughout the country.

Guto King Design received £12,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This grant was dedicated towards Guto King Design through Caerphilly County Borough Council’s intervention of UKSPF funds. The grant was match funded by the company and used for building work to update the business premises and assist with the buying of new printing machinery.

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration and Climate Change, commented “It was great to visit Guto King to hear about their business expansion. It was clear the imagery on the signage is top quality. We’re pleased the financial support from CCBC has been put to good use.”

Owner, Guto Llewellyn King, said “It is brilliant that such grants are available and the help from the Council department in applying for it. The help has had a huge impact on the growth of the business and being able to deliver the needs of my customers.”
