Caerphilly County Borough Youth Service has been awarded the Bronze Level Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales.

The Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales is a unique tool for self-assessment, planning improvement and gaining further recognition in the field of education.

The Bronze Level of the Quality Mark is awarded for demonstrating appropriate leadership and governance, the use of appropriate and effective monitoring and evaluation processes, that the organisation safeguards young people and that it acts within the relevant legal and policy framework, providing a welcoming and safe environment for young people who can access trusted and skilled staff and volunteers.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Caerphilly’s Youth Service would engage with 16,000 young people each year. Post-COVID numbers are now recovering steadily with the return of open access and targeted youth work provisions such as youth club/street/online workers, The Basement, the Youth Forum, LGBTQ groups, Young Parents, Targeted Youth and Family and more specialised projects such as Innovate, crime reduction and Wellbeing and homelessness.

Councillor Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education & Communities said: “I am delighted that Caerphilly’s Youth Service have been awarded with the Bronze Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales.

“This demonstrates the invaluable work that our Youth Service delivers, offering informal education to all young people and support, help and guidance when it is needed most. Well done all and wishing you success in obtaining the next, Silver, level of award.”
