A Cardiff drug dealer who was caught in possession of a zombie knife and crack cocaine worth up to £5k was jailed today.

Balaclava-wearing Levi James – a known drug dealer – was spotted by officers riding his Sur-Ron bike through Gabalfa on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

The known drug dealer was detained in Lydstep Park by officers who were taking part in Operation Auklet – a series of warrants and patrols in response to concerns about drug dealing.

The body-worn video footage captured the moment a Taser-armed officer responds to a call for back-up. The officer sprints along a tree lined footpath adjacent to the football pitch to find his colleague wrestling with Levi James on the ground. James tried to resist the arrest but stopped immediately after realising an officer armed with taser had arrived on the scene.

They searched 21-year-old from Cardiff and found crack cocaine worth as much as £5k in his pockets and a rucksack. He was also carrying zombie knife in a sheath and cash.

He was charged with multiple drugs offence including possessing with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin, possessing a knife in a public place, and acquiring criminal property, namely money, to which he pleaded guilty.

On February 16, 2026, Levi James, of Cardiff, was jailed for 48 months.

    Inspector Tim Ursell said:

“Drug dealing has been a concern for Gabalfa residents for some time and it is a priority for us. Levi James is a known drug dealer who has wreaked havoc in the community.
“I am pleased to say that today he was jailed for a considerable time and this is largely thanks to the information and support we have received from the community. Our focus will not change and we will continue to target those who spread misery through criminality.”
