An independent opticians in Cardiff recently reopened following a recent merger, relocation, and full refurbishment to improve the standards of eye care available to the local community.
Chalmers. The Opticians has been at the centre of the Cardiff community since 1940, hosting a team of experienced professionals who have built strong ties with patients in and around the local area over the years.
The practice recently joined forces with neighbouring independent, Beresford Opticians, with the Chalmers team making the move to new premises on Wellfield Road and collectively taking the new name of ‘Chalmers. The Opticians’.
Between the 30th April and 6th May, the practice briefly closed to accommodate a full refurbishment, creating a more spacious and modernised interior, introducing the latest state-of-the-art technology, and bringing together a unique selection of frames for patients to choose from.
In addition, the move has brought together expertise from both teams, with dispensing and contact lens optician Ian Chalmers, Beresford’s previous director and optometrist Claire Rodrigues, and the new practice director at Chalmers. The Opticians, Jonathan Edwards, all residing under one roof.
Claire Rodrigues commented on the benefits of the move, saying: “As two independents that have grown within the same community, our teams share similar values and ethics when it comes to prioritising the care and experience we provide for our patients.
“By retaining familiar faces from both teams, we can ensure that the expertise on hand is even stronger while also providing a seamless transition for patients from both practices.”
Jonathan Edwards said: “We saw a fantastic opportunity to refurbish this location and make a space where Chalmers. The Opticians could develop and provide an even better quality of care for both Beresford and Chalmers patients.
“The whole team is really excited to see what the future holds for Chalmers. The Opticians, and more importantly, we can’t wait to see our patients benefit from these changes too.”
To showcase the practice’s new look, the team held a grand reopening event on 30th May, inviting patients to browse the new complete collections of Lindberg and Ray-Ban frames, including live demonstrations of the Ray-Ban Metas.
Attendees were also treated to nibbles and refreshments, a live DJ, and given the opportunity to meet the team and explore both the new premises and revolutionary technology on offer to the Cardiff community.
Ian Chalmers added: “It was a really proud moment for the team to be able to show our patients firsthand the service that we have to offer for our local area. We hope this will have a lasting impact on eye care in Cardiff for generations to come.”
