Fourteen community organisations across Cardiff have been awarded funding through the city’s Community Building Grants Scheme, helping them fund works to enhance the existing community facilities.

Funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, the scheme offers grants of up to £10,000 to support upgrades that make community buildings more accessible, energy-efficient, and welcoming to the wider public.

The latest round of awards will support a wide range of improvements, including fire safety upgrades, kitchen refurbishments, toilet and heating improvements, and enhanced security measures.

    Successful applicants include:

    • Vine Community Church (NTCG), Butetown – CCTV installation, fire door replacement, new windows and rooflights
    • Women Connect First, Riverside – Fire escape upgrade and electrical improvements
    • Boomerang, Splott – New fire alarm system
    • Butetown Community Centre, Butetown – Cooker installation
    • St. Lukes Church Hall, Canton – Window replacements
    • Jubilee Community Trust (Maes Y Coed Community Centre), Heath – Accessible toilet and wet room upgrades
    • Cosmos FC, Llanishen – Heating system to support community use
    • Grange Pavilion, Grangetown – Toilet improvements
    • Cathays Central Youth & Community Project, Cathays – Fire safety enhancements
    • Rubicon Dance, Adamsdown – Electric security shutter installation
    • St John The Baptist, Llandaff – Insulation works in the community hall
    • Radyr Guide Hall, Radyr – New doors
    • Rhiwbina Scouts, Rhiwbina – Toilet upgrade
    • St Philips Church, Splott – Kitchen improvements

Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Lee Bridgeman, said: “These grants are helping community organisations across Cardiff make meaningful improvements to their buildings—whether it’s better fire safety, more accessible toilets, or energy-efficient upgrades.

“These changes will make a real difference to the people who use these spaces every day.”
