Network Rail urges passengers to check before they travel as multi-million-pound Ebbw Vale upgrade continues.

The Ebbw Vale line will be closed for 6 days from Saturday 25 to Thursday 30 March (inclusive)

    The main work sites include:

    • Newbridge station – we will continue work to lay bricks which will form part of the front of the new platform walls.
    • the Crosskeys area – we will be regrading an embankment which will allow more space for the second track to be installed.
    • Llanhilleth station – the new footbridge and stairs will be lifted into place next week.
    • the Abercarn area – work will take place in preparation for the second track.

Transport for Wales will be operating a bus service between Ebbw Vale Town and Cardiff Central from tomorrow (25 March) until next Thursday 30 March. Our advice to passengers is to check before travelling at www.tfw.wales

This work is part of the Ebbw Vale enhancement scheme that will enable an additional hourly passenger service from Ebbw Vale to Newport in the future.

During these line closures, buses will replace trains between Ebbw Vale Town and Cardiff Central. Passengers are urged to plan ahead and check www.nationalrail.co.uk  before travelling.

Work will continue across the whole Ebbw Vale Line until late Summer 2023. Further line closures will be needed to carry out the work safely:

    • Sunday 23 April to Sunday 30 April (inclusive)
    • Sunday 21 May
    • Wednesday 24 May to Sunday 11 June (inclusive)
    • Sunday 18 June
    • Sunday 25 June
    • Sunday 2 July
    • Sunday 9 July
    • Sunday 16 July
