Cold water swimming returns to the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, for weekend-only sessions between 24 October and 28 November.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Monday 5 October. The outdoor pools will be cooled to 15 degrees for the season.
Sessions are open to anyone aged 16 and over. Swimmers can wear swim hats, mittens or booties, or wetsuits, and may stay for as long as they like within their booked session. Heated indoor changing rooms and showers are available, with outdoor showers also on offer.
The council said the summer season welcomed over 110,000 swimmers. Sessions have drawn casual and performance swimmers, including people preparing for endurance and triathlon events.
Cllr Scott Emanuel, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Culture, said: “I am delighted to confirm the return of cold water swims, which continue to grow in popularity, year on year. We started them as a pilot to increase the offer at National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty and people have loved them!”
He added: “It’s been another popular season for Lido Ponty, with over 110,000 swimmers enjoying early morning swims, family fun sessions and the chance to bathe outdoors in beautiful surroundings.”
Emanuel said: “Cold water swims will continue into November, before Lido Ponty closes for a few weeks in preparation for the Boxing Day and New Year’s Day events.”
