Richard Hawley best known for his role as Underworld boss and Rovers Return Landlord Johnny Connor in Coronation Street joins previously announced cast members Jake Canuso (Benidorm) and Lottie Henshall (Coronation Street) as Abanazar and the Spirit of the Ring respectively

Oh yes they can! Audiences can expect two hours and fifteen minutes of toe-tapping song and dance, colourful costumes, fantastic sets and wonderful special effects all wrapped up in a hilarious laugh-a-minute script.

The show opens on 10th December 2022 and runs until 31st December 2022 and will be directed by Lizzie Frances, choreographed by Beth Portman and musically directed by Anthony John Quimby, with musical supervision by Ashley Walsh.

Jamie Groves, Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd said “We are delighted to be working in association with Anton Benson productions for this year’s Christmas panto. Our technical team work extremely hard at making our auditorium feel like a magical place for families during Christmas time, and this year we are excited to have our Christmas panto back in full swing, without the worry of restrictions. We want everyone to have a magical Christmas and we’re running Christmas party nights at 1891 and our first ever New Year’s Eve party too! 1891 is the place to be this Autumn, with our delicious Grill Nights, dedicated Pizza and Tapas evenings; and pre theatre show dining; plus a host of entertainment and party nights planned. Make memories with us this Autumn!”

Jake Canuso, who is most famous for his role as the Spanish waiter Mateo in the hit ITV comedy series Benidorm, will star as the wicked Abanazar.

Aiding him as the Spirit of the Ring is Lottie Henshall, most famous for her role as John Stape’s daughter Jade Rowan in Coronation Street. Lottie has also toured in the international production of the hit Mamma Mia, covering the lead role of Sophie.

Actor Richard Hawley, best known for his role as Underworld boss and Rovers Return Landlord Johnny Connor in Coronation Street is the latest to join the Aladdin cast as the Emperor of No Peking! Richard is also known for his roles in Family Affairs, Prime Suspect and cult film Love Actually.

A full supporting cast, including further star casting, are to be announced by Anton Benson Productions in the coming weeks alongside the creative team and the musicians who will make up the live band.

Producer Anton Benson said “We have been working with Rhyl Pavilion Theatre on projects since 2016, including the filming of our 2020 online panto during the pandemic, and so it is an honour and privilege to now be asked to produce their Christmas panto. I have seen several Christmas shows at Rhyl Pavilion and I know how much the local audiences love their panto. I look at the previous panto producers Rhyl Pavilion have worked with and I know the standard we aim to surpass.”
