An intrepid and self-motivated Preparatory School pupil has gained another significant milestone to add to her growing list of achievements.

Daisy Yates, a Year 6 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, set herself a special challenge of scaling every peak in Wales that stood more than 3,000 metres before her 11thbirthday.

This involved successfully navigating 15 mountains including the infamous Crib Goch, Tryfan and Snowdon, and her determination and tireless enthusiasm ensured Daisy completed the challenge with a week to spare.

Daisy has a great love of the outdoors and has recorded some impressive feats despite her tender age, with the pupil also scaling two of the largest peaks in the French Alps during the summer holidays.

This began with Pointe de Bellegarde, which stands at 2,514-metres in height and involved a considerable effort to get to the summit.

Daisy then continued her incredible journey by tackling the 2,980-metre Pic du Lac Blanc.

She also managed to complete the highest mountain in Ireland, Carrauntoohil, which stands at more than 1,000 metres.

Prep School Head Alison Hind, said:

“This is an absolutely extraordinary achievement from Daisy and one that she can be enormously proud of.

“The way she motivates herself and sets tough challenges such as this is a testament to her overall attitude both in and out of the classroom, and Daisy embodies everything we look to install into each pupil under our care here at Rydal Penrhos.”
