Leading IP law firm, Wynne-Jones IP, has expanded its operations following double digit growth across all areas of its business and significant brand wins in the first half of the year.

The firm, which has been ranked the fastest growing IP firm in the UK according to a Plimsoll Report, has strengthened its Cardiff-based team with the appointments of Consultant Patent Attorney, Xuesong Yang, along with Trainee Patent Attorney and Analytics Specialist, Suzanne Gregson.

Xuesong began her career over eight years ago in China as a technician and mechanical test engineer. Her technical expertise includes civil and environmental as well as chemical and material engineering, spanning across local, multinational and oversees businesses.

Fluent in Chinese, English and proficient in Japanese, Xuesong will strengthen the firm’s ability to directly advise and prosecute IP rights in these important commercial territories.

Although based in Cardiff, Xuesong will work across the firm’s three offices and full client portfolio, which in Wales includes leading businesses, SPTS, Frontier Group, Alesi Surgical and Addis Group.

Suzanne joins the Physics team as a Trainee Patent Attorney and the Patent Analytics team as an Analytics Specialist. She brings a great deal of experience to the firm having previously worked at the Intellectual Property Office for over 10 years, nearly five of which were as a Senior Patent Examiner.

Elliott Davies, Partner and Head of Wynne-Jones IP in Cardiff said: “It is an exciting time at Wynne-Jones – the Cardiff office has grown exponentially over the past year and having experienced, skilled people who can deliver the needs of our clients is imperative. Both Xuesong and Suzanne are specialists in their fields, with unrivalled skills to add value to our existing highly valued staff and growing client base. It is great to have them as part of the Wynne-Jones family.”

As a result of the firm’s ongoing growth plans, Wynne-Jones IP has moved its headquarters from Cheltenham town centre to a thriving new business park on the edge of Gloucester.

The new 6,000 sq. feet. headquarters will accommodate 50 staff in an open-plan facility, complete with state-of-the art technology, banks of desks, a hot desk zone, large kitchen-dining and chill-out room, four inter-connecting meeting rooms and breakout areas.

Fiona Watkins, Operations Director at Wynne-Jones IP, said: “At Wynne-Jones we have long been a pioneer of doing things differently, from a no-jargon, no nonsense approach to working with clients, through to our unique management structure and bold brand identity. It is this unique approach that has differentiated our business from others in the IP sector. It has served us well and enabled us to grow consistently. Our former HQ was no longer fit for purpose and we’re delighted that we have been able to find new premises that is more than double the size giving us enough space for continued staff growth.”
