Parks across Swansea are to be part of a busy new family festival this summer.

Residents of Townhill, Waunarlwydd, Morriston, Loughor and St Thomas will be among those who won’t have to travel too far for a fun day out.

Family based activities and attractions at the series of two-day events will include two outdoor cinema screenings on the first day, followed by children’s activities including circus skills workshops, craft sessions, a bouncy castle, children’s rides, walkabout characters, sports activities and live music on the second day. Catering and a bar will be available on both days.

Swansea Parks Fest is being organised by Swansea Council.

Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “Our parks are wonderful places and our local communities will be able to enjoy them even more with our festival’s great series of events.

“It’s great to be able to welcome events back to Swansea once again. There’ll be safety measures in place so people can continue to enjoy Swansea safely and responsibly, and we’re keeping entry costs as low and attractive as possible.

“We hope the Swansea Parks Fest will help families fully enjoy their summer.”

Event locations and dates are: Waunarlwydd Park – August 19-20, Paradise Park – August 21-22, Morriston Park – August 27-28, Parc Williams – August 29-30, Jersey Park – September 10-11. And don’t forget that until August 30, you can enjoy free travel on local bus services on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

Swansea organisations involved include Circus Eruption and Elysium Gallery. Music performers include The River, Ragsy, Soul Skunks and Revolvers.

Films vary between locations. They include Finding Nemo, The Greatest Showman, The Jungle Book and Mamma Mia!
