The Cardiff-based Orchard Media & Events Group is teaming up with Carwyn Jones AM to offer tailored public speaking training to anyone looking to improve their public performance on their feet.

Carwyn brings enormous experience in public speaking, not just in his role as First Minister of Wales for nine years, but also as an Assembly Member for 10 years before that, and in his former career as a barrister and professional tutor. Carwyn stepped down from his role as First Minister at the end of last year, and, though he continues to represent Bridgend as an AM, he will leave the Welsh Assembly in 2021, and is now embarking on a number of projects for his career after politics.

The Orchard Group offers a range of communications services in Wales and across the world, winning UK Regional Promoter of the Year in the Live Music Awards, working with UEFA on three Champions League finals, making TV programmes for national broadcasters, and working with the likes of Principality Building Society, Aston Martin and Qatar Airways on areas such as media planning and buying, PR, design and AV. Orchard recently launched a Media Training service, working with experienced broadcast journalist Dot Davies to create a studio environment at Orchard’s base in the heart of Cardiff.

Carwyn Jones said: “There’s never been a more important time for people to develop presentational and public speaking skills. Working with Orchard, we’ll offer tailored training to individuals, determining what they need to get out of it from the outset, filming them in action, critiquing to enhance performance, and providing them with new skills. Whatever the context, we’ll aim to reduce nerves, increase confidence, and ensure trainees leave an impression on their future audience.”

Orchard director Tim Powell said: Carwyn is a highly respected orator in both Welsh and English, and working with our film and technical teams I’m sure we can offer a service that is unique to Wales, with a package that will be attractive to audiences across the UK.”

In addition to its agency, the Orchard Group encompasses sponsorship and partnership arm Orchard Connects; Orchard Live for music and entertainment; CardiffConferenceBureau.com to attract convention and conference business to south Wales; TV and film content creator Orchard TV; and Rescape Innovation, an Orchard spin-out immersive technology business.

The Group turns over £15m annually, and employs 85 staff at its base in the centre of the Welsh capital
