    Free school meals provided to Caerphilly pupils for the Christmas Holidays

    Caerphilly Country Borough Council will be delivering free school meals during the week commencing 14/12 in readiness for the school Christmas holidays.

    Each FSM pupil will receive the below:

    • Fish Portion, Chips and Peas
    • Tomato Soup and Bread Slice
    • Turkey Dinner and Vegetables
    • Sausage, Mash and Vegetables
    • Fish Fingers, Savoury Herb Potatoes and Farmhouse Mixed Vegetables
    • Gammon Ham, Savoury Herb Diced Potatoes and Farmhouse Mixed Vegetables
    • Turkey Curry with Rice
    • Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes Vegetables and Gravy
    • Ham Sandwich
    • Fish Fingers, Savoury Herb Diced Potatoes and Broccoli

    Vegetarian option:

    • Meat Free Sausage Roll, Cheesy Mash and Vegetables
    • Tomato Soup and Bread Slice
    • Vegetable Casserole and Broccoli
    • Vegetarian Sausage, Mash and Peas
    • Vegetable Fingers, Savoury Herb Potatoes and Farmhouse Mixed Vegetables
    • Vegetarian Sausage, Savoury Herb Diced Potatoes and Farmhouse Mixed Vegetables
    • Vegetable Tikka with Rice
    • Organic Lentil, Kale & Cranberry Tart, Mashed Potatoes and Peas
    • Cheese Sandwich
    • Vegetable Fingers, Savoury Herb Diced Potatoes and Broccoli

    Additional items included:

    • Loaf of bread
    • 1 litre of milk
    • 5 Strawberry & Vanilla Christmas Ice Cream, Tubs
    • 5 Chocolate & Vanilla Christmas Ice Cream Tubs

    There will also be a selection box and cracker. Any children with medical diets will receive a suitable alternative.

    Caerphilly Council wants to ensure that people in receipt of free school meal deliveries are aware these will be delivered next week and have enough space in their freezer.

    If you are not registered for the free school meal delivery service but would like to receive them, or would like to cancel them, please contact the council on [email protected] or call 01443 864055. If you are choosing the email option, the council has asked you to provide your name, address, child’s name, child’s date of birth and their school name.

    Cllr Ross Whiting, Cabinet Member for Learning & Achievement said: “We are aware that for many families across the borough this can be a difficult time of year, exacerbated by the pandemic. By continuing to support families with access to a healthy nutritious meal throughout the holidays, we are ensuring our pupils come back to school after holiday periods healthy and ready to learn. Thank you to all those who will make our first Christmas free school meal delivery service a success, we are so grateful for the vital roles you play.”
