A Penarth business that turns coffee waste into luxury products has scooped one of Wales’ top food & drink honours.
Penarth’s Grounds for Good has been crowned “Best in Show 2025” at the Abergavenny Food Festival, earning praise from judges for their “fantastic products, passion and knowledge.”
The annual Best in Show award is presented to the exhibitor who best captures the spirit of the festival — excellence in product quality, sustainability, presentation, and engagement with visitors. Grounds for Good impressed on every front, blending innovation with a clear environmental mission.
Founded in Penarth, the company gives a second life to used coffee grounds, upcycling them intopremium food, drink and lifestyle creations. From coffee-infused gin and rich artisan chocolate to a lifestyle range, every product embodies their belief that luxury and sustainability can — and should — go hand in hand.
Visitors to Abergavenny were drawn to the team’s striking stand, where they could sample products, hear how coffee waste is repurposed, and see first-hand how creativity can drive real environmental change. Judges said the combination of passion, presentation and product excellence made Grounds for Good a clear standout.
Speaking after the win, founder Rosie Oretti said:
“We’re thrilled to have been recognised at such a prestigious event. This award celebrates our mission — showing that great taste and doing good for the planet can go together.”
