How MOT Check helps drivers avoid costly mistakes

MOTCheck.org is an online information service that helps UK drivers access their vehicle’s MOT history as well as other relevant data. The company was founded by Connor Evans in 2024 and has already achieved thousands of users thanks to its intuitive dashboard and commitment to accessibility and user convenience.

One of the tool’s main goals is to help local drivers avoid costly mistakes by protecting them from unfair car seller practices.

“In the current economy purchasing a used vehicle is often the only real way to get a car in the first place. Unfortunately, it isn’t very safe due to so many car owners trying to sell it for as much as possible. It is quite common to see sellers obfuscate some car history information. Sometimes, they might have no clue themselves, but often it is just a scam to make you pay a bit more for a car that has been heavily used or suffered in an accident a long time ago,” says Connor Evans, CEO of MOT Check.

Connor explains that during his career he has seen dozens of cases where drivers got into legal trouble because they didn’t properly check the vehicle before purchase. What makes these situations worse, he says, is that they are painfully avoidable when you have the right tools to work with.

“We’re not in the 90s anymore — when you decide to purchase a car, the first thing you should do is check its MOT history to see if it has any notable problems. How many owners did it have? Who were these people? Why didn’t it pass the examination a few years ago? What changed afterwards? Answers to all of these questions are at your fingertips — you just need to ask,” says Connor Evans.

As Evans adds, the team behind MOT Check has spent significant time coming up with the most convenient and accessible way to provide MOT reports, ensuring that drivers can save time on reviewing them and focus on other things. All that is required from users is that they enter their registration plate number and the system will instantly compile a comprehensive in-depth report.

The team gathers information from multiple sources, including official ones as well as trusted third-party databases. This way MOTCheck.org achieves the status of one of the easiest-to-use and most reliable tools in the niche. As Evans explains, MOT Check is easily one of the best ways to save money for drivers when it comes to both purchasing vehicles and avoiding fines.

“Drivers spend thousands on fines because of issues they weren’t even aware of. It can cost you up to £1,000 to drive without a valid MOT, and it gets significantly worse for other offences. We want to provide drivers with a cheap tool that helps them save a lot of money on these things while also improving the industry as a whole and building more trust between sellers and buyers. After all, when everyone starts using MOT Check, there is no clear incentive to lie at all, so one might as well just sell their car on appropriate terms,” says Evans.
