Top 100 UK law firm Hugh James has announced the appointment of a new partner as it looks to strengthen its private wealth team.

Elizabeth Webbe joins the firm bringing with her more than 25 years’ experience specialising in tax planning, wills, trusts and family wealth succession planning.

Elizabeth particularly specialises in advising high-net-worth individuals, business owners and landed estates with regard to both on-shore and off-shore assets.

Elizabeth will be based in the firm’s award-winning Cardiff headquarters, Two Central Square, but will also spend considerable time in the firm’s London office to continue growing the firm’s national client base.

Starting her career in 1989, Elizabeth brings with her a wealth of experience. She is a member of STEP – a global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning.

She is also ranked in band one in Chambers and Legal 500 legal directories for private client and was a finalist in the Law Society Excellence awards in 2018. She has also lectured extensively on private client matters for a national legal education provider.

Elizabeth arrives from Trethowans LLP in Salisbury, which she joined in 2001 as Head of Private Client.

Elizabeth said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at Hugh James where I am keen to grow the firm’s client base nationally. Hugh James has an excellent reputation, particularly for private wealth services. I focus on creating individual, tailored solutions for families, so they can enjoy the fruits of their labours, while also ensuring that future generations are planned for, in a tax efficient manner.”

Matthew Evans, partner and head of private wealth at Hugh James, said: “We are thrilled to have Elizabeth join the Hugh James family. She will be an enormous asset to our private wealth offering and will play a pivotal role in helping us continue with our ambitious growth plans over the coming years.

“Attracting a solicitor of Elizabeth’s calibre and experience serves as testament to the reputation of Hugh James as one of the leading firms for private client legal services in the UK.”
