    IoD event to help firms understand opportunities and risks of AI

    North Wales business leaders are being invited to future-proof their organisations by exploring the opportunities and challenges artificial intelligence (AI) could present across different sectors.

    Attendees will hear how emerging AI platforms and tools are reshaping leadership and strategy in both practical application and policy, at the event run by The Institute of Directors (IoD) North Wales.

    Keynote speaker Dr Erin Young, head of innovation and technology policy at the IoD, will be providing attendees with in-depth, expert insight on the potential advantages and hurdles AI brings to firms.

    The lunch takes place on Wednesday 8 October between 12pm and 2:30pm at the Wynnstay Arms in Ruabon and is open for both members and non-members.

    Chair of North Wales IoD David Roberts believes clarifying the benefits and drawbacks of these developments will allow participants to gain confidence for the future.

    He said: “With AI evolving at an unprecedented rate, I believe it’s critical for our region’s leaders to grasp exactly how such systems can, and will, influence their operations.

    “I think this event will prove beneficial and I hope that by equipping attendees with the relevant knowledge, they can enhance their performance within their respective sectors.

    “The lunch will also provide a fantastic, relaxed space for the business community to gather, discuss key topics, and expand their network of professional connections.

    “I encourage those who are interested to purchase a ticket as early as possible, as spaces are limited.”

    The event follows the success of the IoD North Wales branch’s North Wales Police control room tour held earlier this month.

    Reflecting on the day, David added: “We’re continually looking to create value for the North Wales business community by exploring topics and themes we know will equip our members in their respective fields.

    “As such, it was fantastic to take our attendees behind the scenes to see how a busy, public service body manages under pressure, and I hope every attendee learnt something new from the experience.”
