South Wales Police can confirm a 38-year-old woman injured in a collision in Caerau, Cardiff, last month has died and a man has been charged with her murder.

Emergency services were called to Heol Trelai just before 12.30am on Saturday September 27 to a report that the driver of a car had collided with several pedestrians.

Shelley Davies, 38, from Caerau, was injured during the incident and died at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, on the weekend (Saturday, October 18)

Following the collision, an 18-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was on bail pending further enquiries.

Kian Bateman, of Caerau, Cardiff, has now been re-arrested and charged with the murder of Shelley Davies.

He is remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, October 20) also charged with causing grievous bodily harm in relation to a second victim.

Detective Inspector Mike Healy from South Wales Police said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Shelley Davies as they come to terms with this tragic loss.

“Shelley’s family continue to be updated and supported by officers.”
