National Express boosts capacity on routes from South Wales to London

National Express, the UK’s leading scheduled operator, is boosting its network with additional services on key intercity and airport routes.

From 4 December, the coach operator is adding more than 2,000 additional seats per week on its popular services between South Wales and London. Tickets from Newport and Cardiff to London start from under £9 and are available to book at www.nationalexpress.com.

As demand for affordable intercity travel remains strong, National Express is stepping up by increasing capacity on its network in response to Megabus recently announcing it is withdrawing services from South Wales to London.

Ed Rickard, Network Director at National Express, said:

“We recognise the growing need for reliable, affordable and convenient public transport options. By increasing capacity and frequency on our key intercity and airport routes, we’re making it even easier for people to get to where they need to be. We’re expecting to see strong demand and have the flexibility to add more capacity when needed, especially as people start to make travel plans for the festive season.”

The coach operator’s investment in providing reliable, frequent and sustainable coach travel follows a 25% increase in customers turning to National Express last year, with 19 million customers travelling on its coach network during 2023.

Ed Rickard adds: “As the nation’s favourite coach travel company, savvy travellers can look forward to the highest standards in safety and comfort on board. We’re excited to welcome new and existing customers and let us do the driving so that they can enjoy a relaxing journey to their destinations.”

National Express’ modern coach services include leather reclining seats, free Wi-Fi, USB charging points and a generous luggage allowance of up to 20kg.
