New company brings Guided Bike Tours to Anglesey

As we prepare to enjoy holidays at home in the UK, one new business on Anglesey could be posed to take advantage of the growth in the popularity of cycling, by helping local people and visitors to enjoy cycling on the island.

Green Lane Bike Tours were about to launch when lockdown struck last Spring. Now they are even more keen to help more people to enjoy cycling, by offering guided and self-guided bike tours on Anglesey.

They promise to deliver ‘a great day out on a bike’ and explain that what they do is lead people on specifically designed, easy and quiet routes on the island.

The company can help people stay away from the ‘honeypots’ by introducing their guests to some more unusual destinations.

“Each route has several interesting places to visit, as well as plenty of stops to enjoy the view, and enjoy the surrounding wildlife,” says director and tour leader, Eli Elis-Williams.

“We share some stories relating to local history and the places we’re visiting, and like to spot wildflowers and birds, as well as enjoying views across to Snowdonia and Anglesey’s enviable seascapes along the way.”

With more people having taken up cycling as a leisure and exercise activity during ‘lock-down’ or in recent years, Green Lane Bike Tours enables people to see the best of what Anglesey has to offer,  while following a ‘green’, healthier lifestyle and leisure activity.

“We want to show people that cycling can be a viable option for leisure or for getting around,” adds Eli.

Green Lane Bike Tours promise a ‘Covid-safe’ outdoor activity and have completed both the ‘We’re Good to Go’ Tourism industry Covid-19 standard and the Covid-19 awareness course for the Sport & Recreation sector.

Customers can bring their own bike or hire a bike or electric bike, which will be delivered to the start of the route.

A Welsh- speaker with a Welsh history degree, Eli Elis-Williams is sure that people will enjoy hearing stories from Anglesey’s rich past.

“We’ve already had comments from customers keen to learn more about Anglesey’s history,” she said.

The Guided Bike Tours are easily achievable with plenty of stops, and a well-deserved opportunity to enjoy cake at a local café thrown in as well.
