New Llantwit Fardre development set for September launch

A new housing development which is beginning to take shape in Llantwit Fardre is set to open to the public next month.

Bellway is delivering 95 new homes at Coed Derw, the housebuilder’s latest project in Wales, which is transforming a former brownfield site off Llantrisant Road into a new residential neighbourhood.

Construction is underway at the site – previously owned by chemical and care product manufacturer Clariant – with a sales office set to open at the end of September.

Carly Maidment, Sales Manager for Bellway Wales, said: “Coed Derw is a fantastic new project that is delivering much-needed new housing to Mid Glamorgan by completely regenerating a site which had lain disused for nearly a decade.

“This investment into Coed Derw is a positive development for the existing community in Llantwit Fardre and the surrounding area.

“Construction work is already progressing well, and we are now looking forward to opening the on-site sales centre in September, followed by a showhome towards the end of the year.”

Bellway acquired the land near Pontypridd in 2021 with the aim to develop the site for new housing.

Bellway is delivering a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses for private sale at Coed Derw, as well as eight affordable homes – a mix of houses and apartments – available for local people through rent or shared ownership.

The 7.5-acre site will also include a children’s play area and open space on its south-eastern edge, bordering neighbouring existing woodland. It is less than a 30-minute drive from Cardiff city centre, just over three miles from Trefforest Estate train station and has Welsh and English medium schools in the area.

Planning permission for the development was granted last year by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council.

Carly said: “As part of the planning agreement for Coed Derw, we are delivering affordable housing within the development to ensure local housing needs can be met.

“This development is already appealing to a wide range of buyers and we are expecting high levels of interest for the launch.”
