Work to install a new path at the Showfield, Blackwood has now been completed thanks to investment by Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The path was jointly funded through the council’s Parks budget and Welsh Housing Quality Standard programme; with a total cost of £80,000.

Users can now safely walk, run, or jog the perimeter of the Showfield, whatever the weather; with a path measuring a total circumference of 1.2km.  The path is also fully accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

Cllr Nigel George, the council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for parks and open spaces, said “The Showfield is a well-used open space within the local community and the new tarmac path will come as a welcome addition for many visitors.  The site already boasts a popular children’s play area and outdoor gym; the new path now offers even more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities for exercise.”
