A North Wales-based tech company has achieved a prestigious industry certification.

St Asaph-headquartered Pinacl has become the first Cisco Premier Partner operating in the SME space to achieve the Cisco IoT Authorization certification that was launched earlier this year.

The Cisco IoT Authorization accreditation is for partners who have demonstrated their capabilities in Internet of Things (IoT) deployments.

It follows on from the company’s successful Smart City deployments in York, Aberdeen and Newport.

Pinacl’s IoT technical team and pre-sales team were required to attend an IoT training course and complete exams to demonstrate Pinacl’s capability in deploying IoT networks.

Alasdair Rettie, Pinacl’s Technical Director, said: “Cisco’s IoT Partner Authorization lets Pinacl’s customers know that the company excels at deploying IoT networks and solutions.

“This will enhance our Smart City roll outs and enable us to offer resilient IoT coverage for customers.”

The accreditation will also bolster IoT in Scotland following the announcement earlier this month that Pinacl had joined forces with Glasgow-based Boston Networks to create a £50million business.

Boston has won a £6million contract to deliver an IoT network covering the whole of Scotland.

Rob Bardwell, Pinacl CEO, said: “We embarked on our IoT journey two years ago, driving the opportunities for the technology across a number of sectors. Cisco’s endorsement of our skills allows us to accelerate its proliferation together.”
