A family run farm in Newport, Wales is hosting a Santa’s grotto and is raising funds for a local girl with cerebral palsy.

Three-year-old Nathalene had a stroke while she was still in the womb and was born with cerebral palsy. This has affected her movements down the left side of her body.

This year, the Wellies team are inviting families to meet Santa and receive a small gift. There will also be crafts, activities, a raffle, drinks, festive treats and of course it wouldn’t be a true Wellies experience without the farm animals getting involved too.

The cost of the Santa’s grotto experience is £5 per child, which includes a selection box from Santa. The sessions are every half hour and on the hour from 10am – 4pm.

    Dates for Santa’s grotto:
    • Saturday 27th November
    • Sunday 28th November
    • Saturday 4th December
    • Sunday 5th December
    • Saturday 11th December
    • Sunday 12th December

The money raised will go towards Nathalene’s intensive physiotherapy sessions. These sessions are not funded by the NHS and cost £600 a month.

Mum Katie Szekely, 31, from Pentwynmawr said:

“We’re so grateful and overwhelmed by the support of the local community. The selfless act of the farm is so heart warming and takes pressure of us as a family to raise money for Nathalene. We’re so grateful for the support thank you very much to everyone at Wellies Farm.”

Wellies Farm volunteer Emily Williams said:

“When we heard about Nathalene’s journey it touched all our hearts. The strain that her family are under is incredibly difficult and we just knew that we wanted to try and help. Nathalene is such a vibrant and wonderful little girl who is full of life and laughter. She deserves access to this treatment regularly to enable her to lead as normal life as possible.

“We are all looking forward to welcoming families to Christmas at Wellies for the first time for such a wonderful cause.

“Please bring along the family for a wonderful and unique Santa experience.”

Wellies Farm is a not for profit organisation running workshops for and within the local community. The farm specialises in helping individuals to grow in self-awareness and confidence. Wellie’s are providers of tailored educational experiences for all ages through a holistic approach to learning. The Santa’s grotto has been made possible by grants from Pobl and Glastonselfy.

To book a place at Wellie’s Santas grotto, contact [email protected] or visit their Facebook page for more details. The money raised will be donated to Nathalene’s treatment costs.
