Tickets and timetables are now available for TaithCymru, the new Transport for Wales (TfW) coach service connecting North and South-West Wales, which launches on Sunday 25 October 2026.

The service, operated by Edwards Coaches in partnership with Llew Jones, will run nine return journeys every day between Bangor Railway Station and Carmarthen Railway Station, with one late-night journey each day extending to Holyhead railway station and Port.

Coaches will call at Caernarfon, Porthmadog, Dolgellau, Machynlleth, Aberystwyth University, Aberystwyth Bus Station and Aberaeron. Journeys will take between 4 hours 45 minutes and 5 hours, which TfW said saves up to an hour compared with current public transport alternatives. Timetables have been aligned with rail services, TrawsCymru and local bus services.

Tickets went on sale at 10:00 on Tuesday 6 October 2026. To encourage people to try the service, TfW has introduced promotional adult single fares, which apply until early January 2027 before the standard fare structure is introduced:

    Bangor to Aberystwyth: £7
    Bangor to Carmarthen: £10
    Holyhead to Bangor: £4
    Holyhead to Carmarthen: £12.50

Lee Robinson, Executive Director for Regional Transport and Integration at Transport for Wales, said: “TaithCymru gives customers a new, direct way to travel across Wales, with quicker journey times, comfortable coaches and fares designed to encourage people to give the service a try. Whether you’re travelling to university, for work, to see family and friends or for a day out, you can now book ahead and enjoy a simpler journey with fewer changes.”

Journeys can be booked through the TfW website or through the TaithCymru Customer Support team on 03333 211 202. Bookings open on a rolling 14-day window and can be made up to 15 minutes before departure, subject to availability. Tickets cannot be bought from the driver.

Concessionary bus passes are not currently accepted, as TaithCymru is a pre-booked long-distance coach service with its own fares and ticketing.

All TaithCymru coaches are wheelchair accessible and have Wi-Fi, USB charging, air conditioning, onboard toilets and dedicated luggage space. However, not every stop is fully wheelchair accessible, including Aberaeron, and the onboard toilets are not wheelchair accessible. Customers with accessibility or assistance requirements are strongly encouraged to contact the support team at least 36 hours before travelling. Recognised assistance dogs and accredited assistance animals can travel free of charge.

Timetables may change, and customers should check the latest information before travelling.
