The countdown to Pride Caerfilli is officially on! In less than 50 days, the inaugural Pride Caerfilli event will be taking place on Saturday 24th June 2023, from 12pm-7pm in Caerphilly Town Centre. This event is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community within the county borough and is open to everyone who wants to come along to celebrate and learn more about this vibrant and important community.

The event promises to be a fun-filled day for all who wish to attend, featuring a packed line-up of live music and various food, drink, and information stalls. There will also be live entertainment, including the award-winning drag queen Miss Tina Sparkle who will compere the event.

Councillor Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education & Communities and LGBTQ+ Champion commented: “We are so excited that our inaugural Pride Caerfilli event is just 50 days away.

“This will be an inclusive event, and we welcome everyone to join us in celebrating the fantastic community that we have here within the county borough.

“Whether you are looking to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community or are excited to join in with the celebrations at the event – I really do hope that you join us on the day for what is truly going to be an amazing occasion.”

The highlight of the day will be the Pride Caerfilli Parade, sponsored by Heddlu Gwent Police. The parade will begin at St Martins School at 12PM, making its way down through the Town Centre and towards the Pride Caerfilli Youth Bandstand, sponsored by UNISON Caerphilly. The last stretch of the Parade will head back up to the Twyn Car Park, where the parade will finish in time to begin an action-packed day on our Pride Caerfilli Entertainment Stage, sponsored by Unite Wales.

The full entertainment line-up featuring times will be launched in the coming weeks, but we can reveal that there will be some very special performances to look forward to. These performances will include: the South Wales Gay Mens Chorus, a wide variety of drag artists (including Polly Amorous, Esther Parade & Jackie Le Beanstalk, to name a few) and several other talented local artists and DJ’s. There will be something for everyone!
