An insurance management company has kicked off a new era on Cardiff’s Capital Retail Park following its acquisition by The County Group, one of the country’s largest brokers.

Archenfield, long-standing Community Partners with Cardiff City FC, was acquired by The County Group last April as part of a strategy to increase footprint in Wales and demonstrate strong commitment to Welsh people.

It joins the Group’s long-established taxi insurance business insureTAXI as well as PG Insurance, which was acquired last spring, in one large office on the retail park office while maintaining a base on Church Street, Monmouth.

Meanwhile Archenfield has renewed its Community Partnership with Cardiff City FC and continues to back a range of local causes including The Insurance Charities, supporting former industry employees and Llamau, working to combat homelessness in the city.

Director Francis Walsh said: “April marks a successful first year trading under our existing brand as part of The County Group.

“The Group has a strong commitment to be at the heart of the community and underlines our dedication to finding the best insurance protection for our customers across South Wales.

“Joining County colleagues on the retail park has been a great way to celebrate this milestone and as football fans it brings us closer to the hallowed ground of Cardiff City!”

The County Group, backed by Global Risk Partners, is comprised of 40 local insurance brokers.

There’s a strong presence in Wales with a network of branches including Wrexham, Colwyn Bay, Caernarfon, Denbigh and Llandudno in the North and Cardiff, Swansea and Newport in the South.

Chief Executive Officer Alastair Christopherson said: “South Wales is an important growth area for the Group and we continue to look for opportunities to expand our footprint and create new job opportunities for local people.

“Placing our latest acquisitions, Archenfield Insurance Management and PG Insurance, under one roof makes logistic sense and allows team members to share many years of combined industry knowledge and expertise.”

The Group’s acquisition mission has brought 20 local brands under its umbrella over the past decade. It now employs more than 300 people across its branches and handles over £100m of GWP.
