A North Wales-based housing association has received £20M in funding from Principality Commercial to support the development of affordable homes and address the increasing demand for housing across the region.
North Wales Housing (NWH) is headquartered in Llandudno Junction, employs 170 members of staff and currently has a portfolio of 2,700 properties across Gwynedd, Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, and Wrexham. The organisation provides homes and delivers services to almost 3,000 homes across North Wales, and was recently ranked in the top 25% of housing associations in Wales by tenants and residents for the services it provides.
A key project enabled by Principality Commercial’s funding is The Poppies development at Watts Dyke in Llay, Wrexham. Originally intended for open market sale, all 59 homes on the site have been acquired by North Wales Housing to be offered as social rented and affordable housing thanks to support from the Welsh Government via TACP funding and Social Housing Grant allocated by Wrexham Council.
Building on the partnership, the commercial arm of Wales’ largest building society, will continue to support North Wales Housing in its housing development programme which aims to develop 500 new energy efficient and affordable homes between 2022 and 2027 across all six North Wales counties.
Commenting on the partnership with North Wales Housing, Sarah Lavender, Senior Relationship Manager, at Principality Building Society, said: “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to strengthen our relationship with North Wales Housing. As a mutual business, contributing to the development of much-needed affordable housing and making more possible within the communities we serve is something that aligns with our purpose as an organisation. We look forward to continuing this partnership and working to support a fairer society.”
