Working Wales is encouraging people to join its latest free, digital and Wales-wide careers and jobs fair.

Starting Tuesday 19 October, Your Career, Your Future is a collaborative event between Working Wales (delivered by Careers Wales), the Department for Work and Pensions and the Regional Learning and Skills Partnerships.

Across three days there is an event for each region, which will showcase the main growth sectors, jobs in demand, live vacancies and future developments. Those attending will be able to listen to live presentations and have the opportunity to speak directly with local and national employers.

    • North Wales: Tuesday 19 October 10am – 12pm for people in Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham
    • Mid Wales: Tuesday 19 October 1pm – 3pm for people in Powys and Ceredigion
    • South east Wales: Wednesday 20 October 10am – 12pm for people in Torfaen, Cardiff, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Caerphilly, Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Vale of Glamorgan and Blaenau Gwent
    • South west Wales: Thursday 21 October 10am – 12pm for people in Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire)

Each region will have certain industry focuses, from hospitality and tourism to creative roles and manufacturing, discussing jobs, apprenticeships, education, training, employment support and volunteering.

Mandy Ifans, head of employment advice, said: “This will be the third time that we’re running a digital careers and jobs fair, which is a vital service for job seekers across Wales. Furlough was still available during our last series of events and now that the Job Retention Scheme has ended, even more people could be at risk of redundancy and we know job security remains a high priority for the people of Wales.

“Not only is this event an opportunity to see what options are out there at the moment, but also understand the potential opportunities on the horizon and be informed of alternatives that may otherwise have not been considered.

“Our centres are back open across Wales but we’re also continuing to run our services digitally to provide the best support to our customers and offer the best experience possible.”

Speaking on behalf of North Wales Regional Skills Partnership, regional skills manager, Sian Lloyd Roberts, said: “In light of the pandemic, the working landscape has evolved drastically, meaning employment opportunities are increasing across our growth sectors in the region, particularly as the economy begins to recover.

“North Wales has a unique array of ever-growing businesses who are keen to fill roles that are at the forefront of regional developments. There is no better time to learn new skills.”

Careers Wales centres are now back open for pre-booked face-to-face appointments and some centres are also offering drop-in sessions where appointments are not necessary. All centres operate safely and in compliance with COVID regulations, including social distancing, requirement of facemasks and regular sanitising stations.
