From today (Monday September 3rd) Barry Hospital will issue new parking regulations, which will aim to benefit both patients and visitors.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is revising the current parking system to bring it in line with the health board’s new parking enforcement contract which is in place at the University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough.
The revised system will provide automatic free parking for up to four hours with no need to enter a vehicle registration number upfront, unless patients and visitors plan to stay beyond four hours.
A spokesman from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board said:
“We listened to patient and visitor feedback on the current system and responded by making changes which will make their visit to the hospital more flexible and allow more time for appointments and visits. With the old system, patients and visitors had to register their vehicle as soon as they arrived on site. Under the new system, they will have up to four hours’ parking and on occasions where they need to stay longer than four hours, they can do so by entering their vehicle registration into one of the terminals at the hospital main entrances.”
On-site signage will be changed accordingly across the site and the system will continue to use Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras.
For staff working at the hospital, there will be no changes to staff parking.
For shift workers, there will be no parking enforcement between 5pm and 8am the next day Monday to Friday, and at weekends.
