Moving traffic enforcement cameras have been installed in Cardiff to improve the traffic flow, free up the bus lanes and keep Cardiff moving.
Congestion has been highlighted as a problem in Cardiff, and issues often occur when motorists block access to certain roads by waiting illegally in yellow box junctions or taking banned turns which disrupts the flow of traffic.

Three major junctions in the city centre have been highlighted as a problem and new cameras have now been installed to stop motorists causing unnecessary problems.
The first is the yellow box junction on the junction with Churchill Way and Bute Terrace. This camera was installed two weeks ago and all motorists that have stopped illegally in this yellow box junction have received a warning notice from the local authority. Fixed Penalty Notices will start to be issued on September 17th.

The second is the yellow box junction on Bute Terrace at Mary Anne Street, which is the road leading towards St David’s shopping centre car park. This camera will be installed this Sunday and warning notices will be issued for a period of time before enforcement begins.
The third camera is located on Adam Street, to stop motorists illegally stopping in the yellow box junction outside Cardiff Prison, which restricts motorists driving down Central Link turning right towards the city centre. Again, this camera will be installed this Sunday, with a notice period in place before enforcement begins.
The other locations which the Council is assessing are:
- Leckwith Road/Wellington Street
- Western Avenue/Cardiff Road
- Wood Street
- Glossop Road/Moira Terrace
- Callaghan Square
