Phillips Wellbeing co-founder Wayne Phillips will take on the London Marathon this weekend, to raise funds for Velindre Cancer Centre, a cause that has been close to his heart for more than a decade.
Wayne, who has been an ambassador for Velindre for the past 13 years, will join thousands of runners to complete the 26.2-mile challenge, combining personal determination with a commitment to supporting cancer research, treatment and patient care in Wales.
Velindre Cancer Centre is widely recognised for its pioneering research and development, including work on treatments that help prevent the spread of aggressive cancers. Its work continues to provide hope for patients and families facing a cancer diagnosis.
Wayne Phillips, co-founder of Phillips Wellbeing, said: “Next weekend I’ll be taking on the London Marathon to raise money for Velindre, a charity that means a great deal to me. I’ve been proud to support them as an ambassador for many years and have seen first-hand the incredible impact their work has on people’s lives.
“At 49, I’m under no illusions about the challenge ahead. Running 26.2 miles around London is no small task, and I’m sure there will be moments where I question the decision. But it will all be worth it if it helps raise funds for such an important cause.
“Velindre represents hope for so many people going through cancer and I’m honoured to play a small part in supporting that. Any donations, no matter how small, will make a real difference.”
Cancer remains a cause deeply connected to the work of Phillips Wellbeing, which provides professional counselling and emotional support to individuals and families navigating difficult life experiences, including illness and bereavement.
Tracy Phillips, co-founder of Phillips Wellbeing, said: “We are incredibly proud of Wayne for taking on this challenge in support of Velindre. It reflects everything we stand for as an organisation, supporting people through some of life’s most difficult moments, both emotionally and practically.
“Fundraising for causes like Velindre is so important, as it helps ensure people continue to receive not only world-class treatment, but also the care and compassion they need throughout their journey.”
Supporters are encouraged to donate and follow Wayne’s progress as he prepares to take on one of the world’s most iconic marathons – Velindre Fundraising: Big Man’s London Marathon
