    Aber Station closed for essential maintenance

    Transport for Wales are undertaking a programme of essential maintenance works to help ensure the safety and reliability of the railway, and to prepare for the upcoming South Wales Metro.

    This programme of work will require a temporary station closure between 10th October 2022 and 22nd November 2022.

    What’s happening

    They will undertaking works to the platform surface and installing modular anti-slip boards on both platforms. This will include tactile paving and white and yellow lining.

    A variety of equipment will be used, including light plant equipment such as generators, drills, paddle stirrers, and light break out drills. The work will also include platform lighting, which will only be on when works are being undertaken. There will be some noise, but we’ll do what we can to keep it to a minimum.

    During this time, bus replacement services will be in operation and passengers should check before they travel at tfwrail.wales.

    When

    Transport for Wales will be working in the day and night, as some of this work must be carried out whilst trains aren’t running to ensure the safety of our people.

    Rail Replacement Service

    While Aber Station is closed, trains will still be running as normal but will not stop at Aber station. A rail replacement shuttle bus service will be introduced between Aber station and Caerphilly station, which will be clearly signposted.
