The organisers of the Amlwch Viking Festival have expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the 2025 event a resounding success. Over the weekend of 26–27 July, thousands of people ‘invaded’ Amlwch to enjoy the return of the festival after a 13-year hiatus.
From living history displays and Viking encampments to axe demonstrations and an impressive torch-lit procession and boat burning, the festival brought the community together and created a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
Elaine Hughes, one of the event organisers, said: “We were blown away by the support. Seeing thousands of people lining the streets and filling the port again was really emotional. It proved there’s still a huge appetite for this kind of event in Amlwch and we’re already thinking about what’s next.”
Fellow organiser Di Craddock added: “We also want to pay tribute to those who originally founded and developed the festival in the late 1990s. Their efforts laid the groundwork for what has once again become a highlight of the summer in Amlwch.”
The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, Cymdeithas Elusennol Ynys Môn, and the hard work of a dedicated team of volunteers who gave their time and energy to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Plans are already underway for future events, and the organising team has confirmed that, due to the success of this year’s festival, it will return in 2027.
