The 1Bws ticket available for bus services across North Wales now offers a one price weekly ticket as well as daily. The 1Bws ticket is a partnership project between the six local authorities and 27 local bus operators, and offers customers the opportunity to pay one price and travel on nearly 200 routes across North Wales, using tap on tap off technology or with a ticket bought on board. The UK’s first team of specialist paramedics who provide palliative and end of life care has been shortlisted for a national award. The service sees palliative care paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST) work with Swansea Bay’s specialist palliative care team (SPCT). The Welsh Government introduced a bill today [Monday, 2nd Oct] which paves the way for automatic voter registration in future Welsh elections. The Elections and Elected Bodies (Wales) Bill will modernise the way local government and Senedd elections are run and confirms the Welsh Government’s intention to introduce automatic registration across Wales for those elections once a piloting programme has been completed. An Aberystwyth University project providing free legal support for veterans has been awarded further funding of nearly half a million pounds (£499,885) to spend over three years, from The National Lottery Community Fund. Based in the Department of Law and Criminology, Veterans Legal Link was established in 2015. Monmouthshire County Council would like to hear from residents on the proposed Active Travel scheme design to improve journeys between Rogiet and Undy. Bus services in Neath Port Talbot will be reduced at the end of October with one being completely withdrawn on weekdays as the council and bus operators get to grips with a fall in Welsh Government funding and lower passenger numbers. There are warnings that April 2024 could see many further reductions here and across Wales as subsidies dry up.
