A mum with sight loss has taken on a sports challenge with a difference, thanks to a new initiative from Ospreys Community Foundation. Mona Jethwa, 36, from Neath, stepped onto the pitch at Llandarcy Academy of Sports on 4th July to try her hand at Visually Impaired (VI) rugby for the first time. The first turf has been cut on the site of the new school in Dyffryn Aeron and the building work is now underway. A ceremony was held to note the start of this work on Monday, 10 July 2023, with Councillors, Officers, pupils from the local schools and the contractors present on the site near Felin-fach. This new area school will provide first class, modern facilities and equipment for primary age children who currently attend Ciliau Parc, Felin-fach and Dihewyd schools. A new state of the art MRI scanner is online in Morriston Hospital and already benefitting patients. The General Electric machine cost around £3 million but is a significant and much needed investment that will enhance the quality of the care the hospital offers patients. The new technology allows radiography teams to take far more detailed images in a fraction of the time that older generation scanners needed. The team of colleagues from Cygnet Health Care were raising money for Mind, a national charity which supports individuals suffering with their mental health.
