The Eco warriors of Cefn Glas Infant School have been recognised for their efforts in sustainability, as well as in developing their school grounds to promote biodiversity and grow their own food produce. SWANSEA’S Wales Airshow had a fantastic weekend with hundreds of thousands of people enjoying the country’s biggest free outdoor event. Two days of flying delighted visitors from across the UK. An open day at the Snowdrop Lane site last week was an opportunity for anyone interested to take a closer look at the work of the Pembrokeshire Supported Employment Programme and its key role in supporting people with disabilities to gain work. Pride Caerffili was a huge success as Caerphilly town centre was filled with rainbow flags, banners and bunting to celebrate its first-ever Pride event. Caerphilly town centre and Castle Court shopping centre welcomed an outstanding 23,957 visitors on the day. A number of organisations including Gwent Police, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Caerphilly Runners had pre-registered to be a part of the celebration but hundreds more fled to the town centre and joined the festivities on the day. Redevelopment plans for Caerphilly’s Pentrebane Street have been approved as part of Caerphilly 2035’s ambitious regeneration plan to transform Caerphilly town centre. The Pentrebane Street regeneration project has been made possible thanks to Caerphilly County Borough Council and support from the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns programme. Pupils from Blackwood Comprehensive School have excelled in an annual contest which required them to pit their business skills against other schools in Wales. The contest is hosted by Young Enterprise, a national charity that’s been operating for 60 years to reduce youth unemployment and help young people realise their potential, by equipping them with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in the changing world of work. The fflecsi bus service has been running since June 2021 operated by Stagecoach and Transport for Wales (TFW) on behalf of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council. This pilot project trialled a new approach to bus services to enable residents to get to work, education, attend appointments, connect with other public transport, socialise and shop from early in the morning until late in the evening. Following feedback from residents and customers during the pilot, the council are introducing some changes to the service from today (Monday 3 July 2023). A £300,000 fund to provide support for food and drink festivals and events across Wales opens for applications today.
