Ysgol Iolo Morganwg is one of the Vale’s Welsh medium primary schools, based in Cowbridge, which currently offers up to 210 school places. The new campus will double school spaces, eventually taking capacity to 420 pupils. Cardiff residents are being given the chance to show off their creative flair and develop new artistic skills as Cardiff Metropolitan University’s School of Art and Design opens its doors to the public for its annual Community Day. On Sunday 11th June 2023, members of the public can have a go at some of the skills taught within Cardiff Met’s School of Art and Design including laser cutting in the digital technology workshop, FabLab; using the potter’s wheel; and learning new stitching techniques with textile experts. Cardiff Bay’s new outdoor food court, Tiger Yard, will throw open its doors for the first time on Thursday 8th June, kicking off an initial 12-week summer run. After months of work, Tiger Yard sees the site of the former Dr Who Experience in Cardiff Bay transformed into an outdoor food court, featuring six permanent shipping container kitchens and two purpose-built bars. A sensory room has been opened at a care home in memory of a much-loved former Bangor City football legend and retired teacher. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia, Cedric ‘Cid’ Pritchard spent the last 18 months of his life at Pendine Park’s Bryn Seiont Newydd Care Home on the outskirts of Caernarfon. Specialist Wales-wide training provider, Itec, has opened its 12th base in Wales with a new dedicated training facility in Port Talbot to support unemployed 16-19-year-olds in the area. The new centre, located at the YMCA in Port Talbot, will provide support learners from Sandfields, Aberavon, Goytre, Penycae, Cwmafan, Pontrhydyfens and the surrounding area who may otherwise be at risk of becoming one of the thousands of teenagers across Wales not in employment, education or training. A group of Drama, Theatre and Performance Design students from Aberystwyth University will have an unrivalled opportunity to work alongside global artists, designers and theatre makers at a world-renowned festival in Czechia this month. Taking place from 8–18 June, the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space is the world’s largest exhibition of theatre design, scenography and theatre architecture.
